Endgame has a lot of content to offer its players. In this guide, we will go through the most notable and worthwhile activities you can do in Path of Exile's endgame.

Maps are the main endgame content in the game.

By using a map device, players can consume maps to create randomized dungeons. Similar to items, maps also have given rarities: normal, magic, rare and unique, and can have special prefixes just like items do. Think of it as a pick-your-poison type of situation, where you may choose a difficult map for adequately awesome rewards. Also, it has to be noted that maps can be increased in quality by an item called the Cartographer's chisels. Besides these, maps also have 16 tiers increasing in difficulty. The lowest tier drops during progression through the game and once inside the map, higher tier maps start dropping. Mid-tier and high-tier will provide much more challenge. They introduce higher values for the mods they can roll, new mods that are more challenging, and combinations of mods that aren't allowed to coexist with one another on low-tier maps.

Players are gated from mapping until they complete the epilogue in act 10 and after they complete the needed quest, which awards them with the map device at their hideout.

The Atlas of worlds is a very crucial part of mapping as well since it provides the player with a visual layout of all the maps there are. You can start from four starting points on the Atlas, divided into eight regions. Progressing through the Atlas should be amongst your main focuses during the endgame since a wide variety of content is connected to it.

Ever had a slight thought about PoE's skill tree just isn't enough for you? Then I have some good news for you, the Atlas of Worlds has a brand new skill tree dedicated just to the maps. These Atlas skills will enhance map reward and fights within the maps and other sub-contents that can appear on maps (like content from previous leagues, delirium and legion). You can get skill points by completing maps and various Atlas quests. Just like in the other skill tree, you can get refund points if you made a mistake or want to try other paths. The currency item for this is orb of unmaking, which you can buy from Kirac for two orb of regrets.

Another notable aspect is the five masters, who are quest-giving NPC-s you encounter throughout the acts of the game, however, in the endgame, they have a significant role. If you are familiar with MMO-s you know that in a lot of them there are daily quests, to keep up a feeling of progress and continuous rewards in the endgame. The masters fill this role in PoE. Each day, five new quests will be added for the player based on the tier of the last map they completed.

Leaving the best for last, most maps have bosses too. To keep it simple we will introduce the most notable bosses, the five introduced in the Conquerors of the Atlas expansion. Namely: Sirus, Awakener of Worlds; Al-Hezmin, the Hunter; Veritania the Redeemer; Drox, the Warlord and Baran, the Crusader. These five produce influence over the Atlas, causing maps to have special influenced monsters on them whenever they appear. The conquerors drop fragments that needed to access Sirius in his citadel. After you go through the citadel and defeat its boss, a portal will open for the conquerer's arena to finally face them. Influenced enemies or conquerers have a chance to drop influenced items. For example, Al-Hezmin, the Hunter, and monsters influenced by him might drop hunter-influenced items.

So we think you are starting to feel the importance of mapping in the endgame, but what other things you can do?

There are some pseudo endgame contents like delve, which is a push-the-payload type of dungeon, where you travel alongside a mine cart from checkpoint to checkpoint fighting monsters along the way. Of course, the deeper you go the more dangerous the venture gets, so be mindful of the challenge you are willing to take on in delve.

Another profitable activity you can spend your time with is heist. The objective in this mode is to sneak into a facility without raising an alert, get the guarded item, and get out. This activity can be done alone or with a party as well if you are up to it. Heist has a big brother namely grand heist, which is the bigger and more complex version of it, with facilities having multiple wings.

We hope our guide helped show you how productive PoE's endgame can be. Stay tuned for more articles and happy hunting Exiles!
